Small-Town Charm

Once a sleepy little town, Windsor is now booming. The population has doubled in the past decade and is projected to double again in the next decade. Despite its phenomenal growth and proximity to larger communities, Windsor has maintained its small-town charm and friendliness.

Rich History

Windsor’s rich history pre-dates the town’s incorporation in 1890. A world-renowned archaeological site, the Kaplan-Hoover Buffalo Kill Site, is located along Windsor’s towering bluffs giving testament to a native presence as early as 835 B.C.

Thriving Business Community

Windsor has experienced unprecedented growth since 2000 and continues to attract families with its small town charm and quality of life. Windsor has managed to balance its growth while maintaining the small-town feeling its residents are proud of. This unprecedented growth is a result of an established and thriving business community, as well as a solid base of small local businesses. Also the quality and value of housing has led to an influx of residents who prefer a smaller, quieter community to live in and can easily commute to work in nearby towns.

Today’s Windsor is paving the way in northern Colorado for environmentally-friendly “green” industries. In addition to wind mill blade production, the area supports ethanol production, a recycling facility, and other green industries.

Windsor School System

Weld County RE-4 School District of Windsor has a total of 2,943 students enrolled at 4 elementary schools, 1 charter school, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. Go Wizards! Windsor is less than a half-hour away from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, and the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

World Class Golf

Three world-class golf courses — and accompanying golf-based communities–have recently been built in Windsor, and attract golf enthusiasts from throughout the region. Windsor Parks and Recreation Department oversees several parks and more are planned. In fact, the 59 acres of developed parks will be nearly tripled in the coming years. Such growth befits a prosperous, forward thinking town such as Windsor. Walking and biking trails are plentiful as are baseball/softball diamonds and open space areas. There is a community owned outdoor swimming pool and two outdoor in-line skating/hockey rinks.

Easy Access to the Rocky Mountains

As with all Front Range communities, Windsor is within easy driving distance of Colorado’s famous Rocky Mountains and all of the outdoor activities that are available there.
